The 2021 edition of Lucca Junior contest – “Livio Sossi” editorial illustration award will be launched in September 2021.
Participation is free of charge and open to artists of any citizenship, origin, residence, and age. Participants under legal age will need written consent by at least one person holding parental authority.
In order to access selection, participants must register themselves and fill-up an online application form, in which the competing personal illustrated project – a complete storyboard plus 2 finalized figures – is to be uploaded. The illustrated project must be based on the unpublished story proposed by the organization.
The submitted project will be evaluated by a jury of industry experts, including the publisher in partnership.
Projects made with both traditional and digital techniques are accepted. A hi-res scan is to be uploaded when participating with a traditional technique project.
The winner is awarded publishing and, under regular contract with publisher, commits to provide in the subsequent months all the final artworks needed for the picture book, which will be published by the partner publisher.
The winner is also awarded the sum of €2.000, €1.000 of which will be paid upon delivery of the finished project, as a guaranteed advance on royalties.
The jury will also select the most deserving artworks among those participating, to become part of the art exhibition showcased at Lucca Comics & Games and to be included in the exhibition catalogue.
The jury also retains the right to assign special prizes or mentions to especially worthy projects or artworks.
