UNPUBLISHED STORY: “Knights of the good manners”, by Pierdomenico Baccalario

Incipit:

Once upon a time, in a country far, far away, children were a real pestilence. Noisy, messy, rude, teaching them good manners was impossible! And, as this wasn’t enough, they only ate candy! Parents were desperate. So, one evening, all the grown-ups held a secret meeting, in a place where children could not hear them. We must do something! It would take a fairy godmother to educate those pests – said one. Fairy godmother what? We need a witch – said another. No, more! We need Bluebeard himself! – said another one.

Wait, maybe I’ve got the solution – said one who hadn’t spoken yet. Then, he showed-up a magazine with an advertisement. Problems with your offspring? Doesn’t study? Doesn’t wash itself? Doesn’t clear the table? The 4 KNIGHTS OF GOOD MANNERS are at your service! CALL NOW 00 007 5672345678 So they dialed the number…
